I have a new title at my daughter’s school. I am still Emma’s Dad to most of her classmates and friends, but now I have another title. I have helped make and sell popcorn at my daughter’s school once or twice a month for the last couple of years and this year I am chairperson of the Popcorn/Treat committee.
I don’t know if the teachers got together and told all of their students that as committee chair, I needed a new title, or if my new power simply resonates as I perform my Popcorn and Treat duties, but I am now known as the “Popcorn Guy”.
What I love most about being the Popcorn Guy is the look on the kid’s faces when they see me and realize that I am the guy that gives them a bag of popcorn for 25 cents. For some reason, this makes them very happy. Seeing 300 kids smile on a Friday afternoon makes the Popcorn Guy very happy as well.
I highly recommend the popcorn job. Very little responsibility, high reward.
