I have a new title at my daughter’s school. I am still Emma’s Dad to most of her classmates and friends, but now I have another title. I have helped make and sell popcorn at my daughter’s school once or twice a month for the last couple of years and this year I am chairperson of the Popcorn/Treat committee.

I don’t know if the teachers got together and told all of their students that as committee chair, I needed a new title, or if my new power simply resonates as I perform my Popcorn and Treat duties, but I am now known as the “Popcorn Guy”.

What I love most about being the Popcorn Guy is the look on the kid’s faces when they see me and realize that I am the guy that gives them a bag of popcorn for 25 cents. For some reason, this makes them very happy. Seeing 300 kids smile on a Friday afternoon makes the Popcorn Guy very happy as well.

I highly recommend the popcorn job. Very little responsibility, high reward.

I could pretty much stop right there. The title of this post just about covers it. Last night, I decided it would be good fun to teach my son and daughter some breakdancing moves. I threw down the worm, some footwork, a backspin, and a moonwalk in our newly hardwood floored T.V. room and I am paying the price today. It’s probably worth it though. My kids think I am a breakdancing master, even though I am (was) only a hack. I do have a good moonwalk, although I usually only break it out at weddings and bar mitzvahs.

Yesterday, we returned home from our camping trip. I’m not sure if I have ever appreciated my bed more than I did last night. We had a great time and look forward to more short trips like this in the future. The area we went to would be considered Southwest Washington and on one of our day trips we ventured east to Mt. St. Helens.

For you techie people, I took these pictures with my Nokia 3650 Camera Phone. These shots are taken from the Johnston Observatory. The first shot, above, is the standard tourist picture. Note how the kids aren’t looking anywhere near the camera, this is madatory in a tourist shot.

The shot below is of a tree that was completely torn apart in the volcanic blast of 1980.

I still remember the day that Mt. St. Helens erupted and actually felt the eruption even though we lived over 200 miles away. It is interesting to now go back and see how animal and plant life are just now talking root in some areas. There are some great learning centers and observatories, funded by public/private cooperation. The Forest Learning Center has been pimped by Weyerhaeuser Corporation and is very educational and entertaining for kids and adults.

Camping Tip #1: Do not mention to your wife that for the price of the tent, lantern, food, sleeping bags, and other equipment just purchased, we could have gone to Vegas for the weekend.

I spent the better part of last night and today reorganizing my home office, topped off a trip to Office Depot for a new wireless keyboard and mouse. I always feel really good after one of these cleaning and organizing sessions. I still have a few things to file and follow up on, but for the most part, I feel like I am sitting in a brand new office. One thing that always surprises me is the amount of stuff I throw away at the end of one of these cleaning. It makes me think that I should be a lot more selective when considering whether or not to toss something or put it on my desk.

I highly recommend the Microsoft Wireless Mutimedia Keyboad 1.0A and this product as a reward for cleaning your room.

Sorry for the lapse. Been busy. I was always under the impression that Network Marketing is slow in the summer months. Last summer my Network Marketing business grew 50-100% each month (it was a small group to begin with) and this summer we are growing 15-20% a month. I have a dozen phone calls to make to folks that want more information. On top of that, I have a ton of work to get done for my main internet business that is going really well for the summer season, and I have to spend some time in the real estate investing area if I am going to get that off of the ground in the next couple of months.

I have to organize my time better! Time is money, my old boss used to say. But right now, it’s time for bed.

Update on the 2700 sq/ft house…it turned out to be a former Meth Lab. People Died. Not Pretty. But it sold the same day I looked at it for higher than asking price. I have looked at a few other houses since then and will have a real estate venture update before the end of the week.

Ciao!

Yesterday, I procrastinated picking up a bale of hay for my wife, who is this years co-chair for my daiughter’s wild west themed school carnival. When I finally got around to leaving my house to drop off some packages at UPS and pick up my wife’s hay, it was 4:15PM.

The trip to the hay place was no big deal, about 25 minutes including my stop at UPS. I arrived at the front counter of the hay place and asked for a bale of hay.

Here is the shortened version of my exchange with the hay lady:

Me: Where do I go to get a bale of hay?

Hay Lady: What Kind?

Me: What kind?

Hay Lady: Yes, what kind of hay would you like?

Me: You have more than one kind of hay?

Hay Lady: Yes

Me: Do you have somthing like a decoration type of hay?

Hay Lady: You mean straw?

Me: I thought all hay was straw.

Hay Lady: Nope.

Me: OK, straw it is.

Hay Lady: $5.27, pull around the side and the hay guy will load you up.

The 9 mile trek back home took about 70 minutes as the traffic inched along at 5 miles an hour. I began to realize that people do this traffic thing every day, and it was especially ironic when I looked in my rear view mirror and saw someone I used to work for in the car behind me. Working at home is good.
