Are you ready to kill your job and start earning your income from home?

If so, I am looking for a student to apply what I have learned over the last 15 years in the home based business industry. If you are interested, contact me through TyTribble.com. No shy people allowed to apply. I will be using you as a case study.

On with today’s tip on setting small goals.

The first goal I want you to set is to earn an average of $10 a day online. $10 may not seem like a lot, but it is over $300 in extra income a month. Remember, you are no longer on a 20 day work/pay cycle.

You can now get paid 30 days a month!

I think that an ongoing stream of $10 a day can be made by applying 15 to 30 one hour days. That’s 15 to 30 hours or consistent work. We’ll call these hours “Kill Your Job” hours. Most businesses take some money to start but our goal will be to have you in the black at the end of the 15 to 30 day push.

If you are wondering, I have a specific outline for anyone that would like to do this and while I am looking for a couple of people to do the case study, I am willing to share the plan with others in addition to the case study folks.

My goal is to kill jobs and bring Dads home. If you want to kill your job, contact me at me web site: TyTribble.com

Best selling author, Keith Ferrazzi was the final keynote speaker at Microsoft’s Small Business Summit. Here are the highlights from my notes:

There should be no distinction between personal and business relationships.

Joy can live with success.

Skip the small talk and talk with people about passion, dreams and the future.

Intimacy (a deep mutual understanding) is the core of success.

Have a willingness to share who you are.

Make business human.

Create an environment around yourself that allows others to share a dream.

You’ve got to be human to be trusted.

Talk about your struggles.

A willingness to share makes people care about you.

FOCUS – Be clear about what you want to achieve.

Define your currency. What do you have to give to others?

Give a gift that can change a person’s world.

Bond with people. Go Deep.

Build a network before you need it.

Keith was by far the highlight of the summit for me and judging by the standing ovation he got at the end of his speech, I was not alone in this thinking. I was also able to spend a few moments with him afterwords and noticed him take a sincere interest in the people he was speaking with.

The world of networking needs more Keith Ferrazzi.

You can visit Keith’s blog here and buy his book here.

What began as a part-time homebased business has turned into a thriving company with several employees.

"In 2002, my wife began selling stuff from around our house on eBay," says Ty. "One night, I was looking over her shoulder and said, ‘You sold that item for that much money?’" Later that month, the couple put together a business plan with eBay at the center of their business model.

Small is the new big because small gives you the flexibility to change the business model when your competition changes theirs.

Small means you can tell the truth on your blog.

Small means that you can answer email from your customers.

A small venture fund doesn’t have to fund big bad ideas in order to get capital doing work. They can make small investments in tiny companies with good (big) ideas.

A small church has a minister with the time to visit you in the hospital when you’re sick.

Is it better to be the head of Craigslist or the head of UPS?

Later I made a comment to my mother-in-law who is a member, telling her that the site looked like “butt”. Well my mother-in-law talked to the director of the club and mentioned that they should have me re-do their site. I am not as real web site guru, but I know my a bit of HTML and can find the tools to make a site look pretty good.

I offered to re-do and regularly update the site, and they offered me a free initiation as a social member and a couple of rounds of golf a month. Basically I am getting $250 worth of trade a month for my services. Barter is cool!

I just started an LLC today with my in-laws in order to buy, fix, and sell houses. Yes, I am officially a real estate investor, or so it says on our business license.

The first house I am looking at is absolutely trashed, but is over 2700 square feet in a good neighborhood and is listed at $185,900. My first impression is that if we put $10-20,000 into it, we could turn it around for $240-$250,000. I am thinking about offering $165,000. The place doesn’t look like it gets much traffic and may have been on the market a while.

In order to give context to the above numbers, I should mention that I am from the Seattle, Washington area, where the median home price is over $300,000.

Send me an email if you have any experience in real estate. I would love to hear from you.
