1. Start a home business. Network Marketing is a great option because it is essentially a reccession proof industry, in fact the industry has shown in the past to grow rapidly in poor economies. The other great thing about Network Marketing is that the start up is typically less than $1,000, making it affordable for most people.

2. Get your body moving. Walk, run, jog, dance, or workout…doesn’t matter what you do, just get that body moving.

3. Eat more whole foods. Foods spiked with synthetic vitamins have shown to cause health problems in multiple studies. Eat more whole fruits and vegetables and if you would like to get multiple servings in a simple to drink whole food liquid, try Eiro.

4. Connect with people you care about. Facebook is a great way to connect with people that you may have missed in your life. Life is too short to forget about the people that are most important to you.

5. Improve yourself. Work to become a better you. Read more, listen to more positive audio, study more successful people and find yourself a mentor.

Bonus: When you are working, work harder than anyone else. When you are resting, truly rest because you have earned it.

…and Certified Alarm Clock Killer

I like to occasionally assign myself a new title. I’ve been known as Ty Tribble, Husband, Dad and Entrepreneur for a while but I thought Certified Alarm Clock Killer has a nice ring (or no ring!) to it.

To be transparent, I do have an alarm clock and it is used for a handful of occasions:

1. Church – starts at 9AM and we usually serve communion so, can’t be late.
2. Golf or Fishing – good reasons to get up early.
3. Travel – I guess I always look for the best deal online when booking travel and sometimes forget how much it sucks getting to the airport at 5AM.

Then there are my kids…love ‘em, but they frankly start school before I would like to get up in the morning.

Don’t get me wrong, I work hard. Sometimes 12 hours in a day, but I work on my schedule and I don’t miss many swim meets, recitals or baseball games.

Sometimes you need someone to give you a swift kick in the rear in order to better understand what you are blessed with in today’s world. My Uncle Duke used to tell me, “Ty, if you don’t get a move-on, I am going to throw my shoe at you…with my foot in it”.

Here’s a nice wake up from Seth’s Blog:

Here’s a question that you should clip out and tape to your bathroom mirror. It might save you some angst 15 years from now. The question is, What did you do back when interest rates were at their lowest in 50 years, crime was close to zero, great employees were looking for good jobs, computers made product development and marketing easier than ever, and there was almost no competition for good news about great ideas?

Keep your shoe on, Uncle Duke, I’m movin’.

From Fresh Inc.:

Spike TV, a division of MTV Networks, has announced that it will launch “American Start-Up” next year. The 10-episode reality series, produced by actors and writers Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, pits eight young businesses against each other. Each business will be given $50,000 in seed money and will be guided – and scrutinized – by a panel of entrepreneurs, business tycoons and venture capitalists. The grand prize according to the press release announcing the series is a “major investment that will enable them to take their business dream to the next level.”

This will be one to watch.
